UFA Spring Gala—2007-08
2007
On April 17, 2007, UFA hosted its first Spring Gala. $8,554 was raised for landscaping at UFA. The night included student and professional acts, including a performance by Shakura S’Aida. Money was raised from food and ticket sales, the Peace and Justice Mural, and other activities.
2008
Following the success of the first Spring Gala, UFA hosted another one in 2008. It was held on Earth Day (April 22) and featured performances by Martha O’Neill, The Bad Dog Theatre, West African performance art group Modesto Amegago, and Simon Cotter. Winners of UFA Idol also performed. Other activities included a 50/50 draw, the Guatemala Project's first silent auction, and the Social Justice Mural.
2009
In the 2008-2009 school year, CBC’s Stuart McLean performed. Proceeds from the evening supported UFA’s Landscaping Project, the Grade 9 Retreat, and other UFA Community Projects. Last year, the Gala was on Tuesday, May 5. It began at 7:00 pm, but students and parents were invited and encouraged to visit a student art exposition and a silent auction (proceeds go to The Guatamela Project) beginning at 6:15 pm.
