Ursula Franklin Academy is a small, publicly-funded secondary school located in the Bloor West Village in Toronto, Ontario. UFA, founded in September of 1995, combines innovation, high expectations, and strong relationships between the staff, students, and their families to create a Community of Learners.
Ursula Franklin Academy is one of three schools housed within a beautiful, 75 year-old building. Our school, like Western Technical Commercial School and The Student School, has very distinct space within this school complex—on the Glendonwynne side of the building. Occasionally, we will use shared space like the auditorium and indoor and outdoor physical education facilities.
Our Mission Statement
Ursula Franklin is a small community of learners that offers integrated liberal arts and science packages, preparing students for academic programs at post-secondary level. The learning experiences offered at Ursula Franklin Academy will reflect not only the learning expectations identified by the Province and the Toronto District School Board, but also the students' own interests, developing a sense of responsibility and individual accomplishment. Integrated and cross-curricular future-oriented skills related to electronic research and conferencing, conflict resolution and problem solving, global and social justice issues, and student leadership will be emphasized.
